For a lot of Americans, Labor Day Weekend is the unofficial end of summer. Families get together to go camping, have barbeques, and enjoy the three-day weekend. For Western Nevada FC, Labor Day Weekend 2017 was its chance to give back to the community.
The team held a 24-hour soccer match from 4:00 pm Friday until 4:00 pm Saturday. Not only was this done to bring awareness to the team, but more importantly, it was done as a fundraiser to help raise funds for a new playground at New Life Christian Center in Reno.
Through the donations of many individuals, the club was able to raise $3,000 for the playground. Plus, through the generosity of Reno Christian Fellowship Church, that amount was matched in full, bringing the full total to $6,000.
Every player on the team played for at least 5 hours, most played for at least 8. However, two players really stood out with the amount of time they played. Maverick Deathrage played for 16 hours and Will Nuttall played for 19.
