A barrage of goals by Western Nevada FC led to a huge 7-1 win over FC Sacramento on Saturday. The win gave the home side a much-needed three points, vaulting them into 3rd place in the UPSL Northwest Conference.
After several near misses to start the contest, Robin Gonzales found the back of the net in the 8th minute. Three minutes later, Manny Medina sent one flying to make the score 2:0. This is all the team would need to secure the win, but they weren't done scoring. Alan Corona scored in the 25th minute and Taylor Culp added one on in the 44th to make the score 4:0 at the halftime break.
A lull in scoring happened for the opening 16 minutes of the second half before FC Sacramento finally got on the scoreboard in the 61st minute to make the score 4:1. 20 minutes later, The Community's Team came right back with goals by Cristian Hernandez in the 81st, Kelsey Waller in the 87th, and Hernandez again on the last play of the match, making the final score 7:1.
The scoring onslaught was just what the team needed as it brought the team's goal differential back to a much more respectable -1. This is the first tiebreaker if the team is tied with another on points.
